New Spain coach Montse Tomé said she left Hermoso out of squad to protect her

Jennifer Hermoso has responded forcefully to the latest developments in the conflict between Spain's World Champions and the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

Hermoso, who is not part of Montse Tomé's list for the UEFA Nations League, has issued a statement against the RFEF and has rallied against the new coach, who at a press conference stated that Jenni was not called up to "protect her".

“A claim was made today stating that the environment within the RFEF would be safe for my colleagues to rejoin, yet at the press conference it was announced that they were not calling me as a means to protect me," Hermoso wrote.

“Protect me from what? And from whom?

"The players are certain that this is yet another strategy of division and manipulation to intimidate and threaten us with legal repercussion and economic sanctions.

“It is yet more irrefutable proof that shows that even today, nothing has changed.”

Law

The players are clinging to the FIFA article which states that players are not obliged to go to the national team unless they have been given 15 days' notice.

However, the Spanish sports law may prevail, which obliges players to go to the national team and considers it a very serious offence not to do so.

Serious breaches of the law are punishable by a fine of between 3,000 and 30,000 euros. In addition to the fine, players who do not play can have their federation license suspended for 2 to 15 years.
