Montse Tome explains why Jenni Hermoso not in Spain squad

Spain's new coach, Montse Tomé, after the resignation last Friday of the 39, has given on Monday the definitive list for the first two matches of the Nations League to be played next week.

Many of the players who signed the press release have been included in the squad, but Jenni Hermoso is notably absent. When asked about it, the coach said that it was a decision taken to "protect" the player after all the media noise about her after the kiss with Rubiales at the World Cup.

"We are with Jenni in everything and with all the players. We have to listen to them. We thought that the best way to protect her in this call-up is like this. We are counting on her," she said.

Montse Tomé was also asked about the situation that the Madrid player has been going through in recent weeks. "I support Jenni, I'm sorry for what she's been through during this time. She is a football player, she loves what she does and everything that has happened during this time cannot be", she said.
