Athletic Club explode at Madrid refereeing 'favours': 'VAR is ruining football'
The Basque side felt hard done by as they lost 1-0 to Real Madrid on Sunday
Dani García, like Iker Muniain before him and Iñaki Williams and Unai Lopez on social media, has strongly criticised the performance of the refereeing team in Athletic Club's 1-0 loss to Real Madrid at San Mames on Sunday.
A controversial second-half penalty, converted by Sergio Ramos, earned the points for Madrid to take them seven clear of Barcelona, who face Villarreal later in the day.
Athletic midfielder Dani Garcia was adjudged to have fouled Marcelo, with referee Gonzalez Gonzalez giving the spot-kick after revising the play on the pitchside monitor.
"I saw I had the situation under control and, through bad luck, I stepped on him. At no moment was it possible that he would get the ball before me. If you give one, you give the other," wrote Dani Garcia. "VAR is ruining football."
Dani Garcia was referring to a similar incident that happened in the Madrid box shortly after, when Ramos stamped on Raul Garcia but the referee gave nothing.

RAINING COMPLAINTS
Iñaki Williams and Unai López also took to social media to complain about the refereeing. They both shared the image of Ramos stamping on Raul Garcia inside the area.
Muniain had earlier said: "Raul Garcia's been stamped on and they haven't even revised it, that's the difference.
"We've seen the theme in these weeks since the restart, depending on which teams it is, some decisions are given. Everyone can draw their own conclusions."
