Real Madrid say Aurelien Tchouameni has a foot fracture

The worst news for Real Madrid is confirmed. Aurélien Tchouaméni will be out for six to eight weeks after suffering an "incomplete stress fracture of the second metatarsal of the left foot" in the Barcelona derby.

Real Madrid's Clasico win, with good news in terms of the result, leaves one negative for Carlo Ancelotti. He loses Tchouaméni for an estimated time of between a month and a half and two months, according to sources at the club.

"Following tests carried out on our player Aurélien Tchouameni by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an incomplete stress fracture of the second metatarsal of the left foot," said Madrid in a statement on Sunday.

Tchouaméni's absence will allow Eduardo Camavinga to establish himself as a central midfielder, after being left out of the starting line-up for the clásico following his position in recent matches between left-back and midfield.

The French midfielder joins long-term absentees Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, plus Dani Ceballos, who has missed Real Madrid's last three games with a muscle injury. Ferland Mendy, meanwhile, received good news and did not suffer a muscle injury after the discomfort that forced him to come off at the start of the second half in Barcelona.
