Norway 0-1 Spain: Gavi gets La Roja to Euro 2024

| sport

Spain reached Euro 2024 thanks to a strike by Barcelona playmaker Gavi, just after half-time, earning them a narrow win over Norway.

However despite the tight scoreline, Luis de la Fuente's side dominated and did not let Norway hitman Erling Haaland get close to goal, just as they had planned it.

Alvaro Morata scored in the first half but was offside -- if he had left the ball then it would have been an own goal.

Despite that self-inflicted set-back Spain kept plugging away and eventually, Gavi pounced just after the break.

He was made to sweat it as VAR looked at a hundred replays after some pinball in the box but could not find anything to disallow it for eventually and it stood.

Norway could not find a way back and despite one or two moments where they finally got shots away, did not give goalkeeper Unai Simon much at all to do.

Spain, who finished as semi-finalists in 2021, will be at the tournament in Germany next summer.
