Luis Enrique couldn't take charge of the win in Malta due to a family problem

Alvaro Morata scored a brace as Spain beat Malta 2-0 on Tuesday in a qualifier for Euro 2020 in the absence of Luis Enrique.

Robert Moreno took charge for the game after it was announced earlier in the day that Luis Enrique would be missing due to a major family issue.

"I'm really happy to have been here [with Spain] and to have scored, but the important thing is to qualify for the Euros," Morata said.

"It was really important to win. We knew it was going to be different. Football's changed a lot and it's complicated to come to place like Malta, where they keep things tigth at the back, but we return home happy."

On Luis Enrique, the Atletico Madrid striker added: "We had more motivation to get the win for the boss, who deserves it, because we're with him until the end and we wish him all the best."
