Victor Francos: Yesterday we ridiculed ourself as a country

The crisis of the Spanish women's national team continues to fly through new chapters at breakneck speed. Following the call-up on Tuesday 19 September, the government has spoken out through Víctor Francos.

The president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes will travel today to Valencia, where the national team will meet, trying to mediate in a conflict with the RFEF that is becoming more and more entrenched.

Francos has been very hard on the Federation in statements to the program 'Al Rojo vivo', noting that "yesterday we made a fool of ourselves as a country. It is unacceptable. We have been in contact to talk to the players after what happened".

The president had already indicated last night that he wanted to get in touch with the players this morning: "The players I spoke to were in a very bad way. I have told Pedro Rocha - president of the RFEF - that I am very angry. Yesterday at two o'clock in the afternoon I was told that no one who didn't want to be called up was going to be called up".

The president of the CSD also stressed that "we have conveyed to the players the need to know their opinion and their motives, in order to be able to help them achieve some of their objectives. I have not been told," he said to explain the meeting he will hold this afternoon in Oliva (Valencia).

"If the Federation does not take the corresponding decisions in the next few days, we will demand an immediate call for elections by means of a burofax," assured Francos, information that SPORT has also been able to confirm.

"I have the feeling that some of the people who have been at the forefront of this crisis have not stopped to look at the forest. They have looked at the twig, but not the forest. I can't be any clearer. Anything after March will not be acceptable to the Spanish government," added the CSD president. "We have made a fool of ourselves as a country and it is unacceptable," he concluded.
