Montse Tome names shock squad for Spain Nations League games

Montse Tome named a surprise squad list for the Nations League matches next week against Sweden and Switzerland.

She called up 15 of the World Cup winning women, most of whom were still on strike from the Spanish national team over changes they demand to be made before they return.

The squad list is: Misa Rodríguez, Cata Coll, Enithc Salón; Irene Paredes, Laia Alexandri, María Méndez, Ohane Hernández, Olga Carmona, Ona Batlle, María León; Aitana Bonmatí, Alexia Putellas, Patri Guijarro, María Pérez, Tere Abelleira, Rosa Márquez, Athenea del Castillo, Esther González, Eva Navarro, Mariona Caldentey, Inma Gabarro, Amaiur Sarriegui and Lucía García.

Other surprises included Mapi Leon and Patri Guijarro being included after they did not go to the World Cup because of a different protest, the protest of ‘The 15’.
