The German player backed his French coach ahead of the Monchengladbach game

Toni Kroos, Real Madrid's German central midfielder, said the Champions League clash at Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday night was "a final" for the club and that the players never had doubts about Zinedine Zidane.

"We know the importance that the game has after losing the opener, we have pressure to win," said Kroos. "It's nothing more and nothing less than a final for us."

On the coach, he added: "We have never had doubts about Zidane. We win and lose together. You can't say we're not with him because we lost once. It's the easiest thing to do if something goes wrong, but we're not like that."

Kroos says the defeats by Cadiz and Shakhtar weren't due to a lack of desire.

"It's not because of motivation," said the German. "After the defeats we spoke among ourselves and it was clear that it was not a lack of motivation. Sometimes it doesn't go for you and it's like that, we know a Clasico is special but last season when we won La Liga it was against the smaller teams."
