The terrible Nacho tackle that sent Portu to hospital

The final minutes of Girona-Real Madrid (0-3) were marred by a terrifying tackle by Nacho on Portu in added time. The Real Madrid captain hit the striker with a foul unbecoming of a professional and a player of his experience. He was sent off by Pulido Santana, but at the behest of the VAR.

It was injury time in the second half when the Real Madrid centre-back was sent off. Nacho's tackle was one of those that hurts to watch because it hit Portu's right leg at an impossible height to play the ball.

Pulido Santana at first showed Nacho a yellow card, but the VAR intervened and corrected the referee, who then sent him off with a straight red card in the 90+4th minute.

But that was not the end of the story... As Nacho was leaving the pitch he was confronted by Stuani, who went in search of the Real Madrid player but was intercepted by Rüdiger. Both were shown the yellow card in the 90+5th minute.

Portu left the pitch on a stretcher and the Montilivi crowd shouted "murderer, murderer" at Nacho. The match could not have ended in a worse way.
