Girona 0-3 Real Madrid: Bellingham takes Los Blancos back to the top of LaLiga

The England international scored one and made another as Madrid ended Girona's unbeaten start

Real Madrid beat Girona 3-0 at Montilivi on Saturday to move to the top of LaLiga.

Joselu opened the scoring in the first half and Aurélien Tchouaméni before the break with a header.

Jude Bellingham completed the scoring with his sixth in the league this season before Nacho was sent off late on for a horror challenge on Portu.

Madrid move to the top of the table with 21 points, ahead of Barcelona, who have 20. Girona drop to third with 19.

Girona topped the table heading into the weekend, with Madrid second, but Los Blancos taught them a lesson in efficiency.

It could have been a different story if Girona took one of their two early chances, both headers, but they didn't.

Instead, Madrid lead in the 17th minute when Bellingham's brilliant pass with the outside of his boot was turned home by Joselu.

That led to a further spell of Madrid pressure, culminating in an unmarked Tchouaméni heading in his first goal for the club from a Toni Kroos corner.

Bellingham could have added a third before the break but was denied when one-on-one, only to complete the scoring in the 71st minute.

Girona had chances to reduce the arrears before then but again failed to take them as their unbeaten start to the campaign ended.

The game ended with an out-of-place challenge from Nacho, who was dismissed for an ugly tackle on Portu, who was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital.
