The left-back will join Sevilla providing there are no late twists

Sevilla sporting director Monchi confirmed on Thursday that "if everything goes well" Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon will travel south soon to join the club.

Reguilon would still have to undergo a medical and Monchi said he "can't give too much more information because negotiations are still ongoing."

Monchi revealed the news at the presentation of Brazilian defender Diego Carlos and midfielder Joan Jorda, two of Sevilla's six signings so far this summer. They also have a new coach in Julen Lopetegui.

"Negotiations are ongoing but they're advanced, but there's still work to be done," Monchi said. "There are things to be sorted, but if everything moves in the same direction, possibly he will soon be in Seville for a medical. We had an important ace up our sleeve with the fact the player wants to come. That helps."

However, Monchi ruled out, in principle, a return for right-back Dani Alves, who has left Paris Saint-Germain after two seasons in France.

"There was hope, but Sevilla is not Dani's idea at the moment," Monchi said. "He wants to keep competing in other type of championships with other objectives. That doesn't mean that it couldn't happen one day, but not in the short-term."
