It's a strategic move from Pique to allow FC Andorra, who he purchased last season, to keep growing

Gerard Pique, through his company, has reached an agreement to take control of Gimnastic de Manresa, the historic club from Bages that have also stood out for their phenomenal work in youth football. Pep Guardiola developed at their school before moving to Barcelona's La Masia.

Everything will be official soon. It's a strategic move from Pique to allow FC Andorra, who he purchased last season, to keep growing. They have already been promoted from the Catalan Primera to the Tercera División in record time with ex-Barcelona players Gabri and Joorquera on the bench. When Pique took over, they were midtable. The signings made in January had an immediate effect.

Pique will invest around 400,000 euros in Gimnàstic Manresa, who will become Andorra's B team from the 2019-20 season. The club from the principality, therefore, will control one of Catalonia's strongest youth academies.

Gimnàstic Manresa currently have around 40 teams registered with the Catalan Federation, with nearly all of them in the top 'A' categories of their age groups. Historically, each season players formed at the club have moved on to Barça's famed La Masia academy.

However, since the end of last year, the club had an agreement with Real Madrid, allowing Los Blancos to have a preferential option on their players. Pique's aim is to bring that commitment to an end.

The final decision will be taken by Gimnàstic Manresa's socios in an extraordinary meeting. Pique's proposal is to help the club grow and to improve even more.
