The former Real Madrid player spoke to Portuguese newspaper 'A Bola' about Cristiano's move to Juventus this summer

"It wasn't a decision made in the heat of the moment," Pedja Mijatovic said in relation to Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus. The striker, who played for Real Madrid between 1996 and 1999, spoke to Portuguese newspaper 'A Bola' about the biggest transfer of the summer so far.

"Maybe the reason was because of the strange relationship between Cristiano and Florentino. I don't know what happened exactly but, from the outside looking in, there's no doubt that there were serious problems between the two."

Mijatovic, who was nominated for the Ballon d'Or in 1997 due to his performances in a Real Madrid shirt, didn't believe Ronaldo's decision to leave was a rash one. "I don't think it was a decision made in the heat of the moment. It was the end of a process which began a while ago, which grew and culminated with this end result."

Ronaldo will train as a Juventus player for the first time today and his move has caused shockwaves around the footballing world.

As for Florentino, he'll stick with the 'Galacticos' which remain at Real Madrid as he oversees the first season in nine years which won't include the Portuguese superstar amongst his ranks.
