An event could be held at the Santiago Bernabeu in the evening

Real Madrid -- in concrete, Florentino Perez -- want to present their new manager, Julen Lopetegui, as soon as possible. Los Blancos' idea is to have a presentation on Thursday at 19.00h at the Santiago Bernabeu. That's their initial plan.

However, the presentation of Lopetegui could be delayed a few days. Madrid are aware that the issue is a hot potato at the moment and to hold an event this week would be open to all types of criticism. For that reason, Perez wants to wait until the coach arrives in Madrid to finalise the day of the presentation.

Lopetegui, after saying goodbye to the Spain players and staff in Russia, caught the first plane out of Moscow and is expected in Madrid early on Thursday morning.

On Wednesday, he was caught at Krasnodar airport, where he didn't want to talk about his appointment as Real Madrid's new coach. "I am really sad, but we have a magnificent team and I hope we win the World Cup," he said in reference to La Roja's hopes in Russia.
