In an intense 2018 Luka Modric won the Champions League with Real Madrid, finished as a World Cup runner up with Croatia and won the Ballon d'Or.
Now he is aiming for the Club World Cup, which would be Madrid's fourth if they win, overtaking Barcelona.
"I'm arriving much better at this tournament compared to how I started the season," said Modric to FIFA TV. "It was hard for me to recover my rhythm after a very tough World Cup. I had a lot of physical and mental wear and tear. In recent games I feel a lot better physically.
Asked about his Ballon d'Or, Modric said: "The most important thing is the group and that the team plays well. I want to help in every aspect I can. My only aim is to win the Club World Cup, an important title for us. Later on an individual level we'll see what happens."
