Perez was keen to stress that there had been interest from other clubs

Throughout the presentation of Real Madrid's new left-back Theo Hernandez, Florentino Perez didn't tire of going on about the determination the French defender showed to get his move to the club. 

Without mentioning Barcelona at any point, the Madrid chief regularly alluded to the fact the Catalan club had batlled for Theo and congratulated the player on getting his desired move in the end. 

"Other big European clubs also wanted him, but his firmness and conviction honoured him. He wanted to wear this shirt above all others and Madrid will be eternally grateful," Perez said. 

In his brief speech at the Santiago Bernabeu, Perez added: "We have a uniquely talented squad and we want it to be even stronger for the challenges we have in the future. United we are unbeatable and no one title is enough for us."

Perez highlighted that Theo is "a young player that was one of the revelations of last season in La Liga and the Copa [del Rey]. He demonstrated his quality, his potential, his strength and his determination to play for Real Madrid -- he's where he wants to be." 

Meanwhile, Theo, who passed his medical on Monday morning, said: "Thanks to the fans and the players for the welcome. I am really happy to be at the best club in the world. I have come to learn and to win a lot of titles."
