Cristiano feels he is being pushed towards the exit door by Perez after the president didn't honour his promise to increase the superstar's salary

Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo is starting to believe that Florentino Perez, the club's president, is the driving force behind the plan of getting the Portuguese superstar out of the door at Real Madrid. Cristiano was promised a pay rise by Perez and to date no talks have taken place. The relationship between the club's star and president is becoming more tense by the day and with each passing week it feels more likely that an agreement won't be reached.

It was back in March when Perez promised to look at Cristiano's contract and increase his salary once again. The player's representative, Jorge Mendes, shook hands with Perez on the finer details on the agreement according to 'El Confidencial'. This would see Cristiano's contract go from €21m a season to €30m.

Months have passed and the circumstances have since changed. After Perez didn't come through with a new contract, Cristiano is now demanding even more money so that he's alongside the best paid footballers in the sport.

betrayal

The Portuguese striker feels betrayed by Perez and assumes it was the president himself who leaked the information about Real Madrid chasing Neymar. The signing of Neymar would almost certainly see Cristiano lose his status as the figurehead of the club as the two, together, don't appear to be compatible. Cristiano is starting to believe Perez doesn't have any interest in fulfilling the promise he made to him and less so if the plan is to bring in Neymar.

In terms of his image and marketability, sharing a dressing room with Neymar could also cause issues when it comes to sponsorship deals. Cristiano wants to continue being the poster boy for Nike at Real Madrid and isn't interested in competing with Neymar for that crown. This doesn't take into account the fact that should Neymar arrive he'd be earning a lot more than the €21m Cristiano currently receives.

Cristiano hoped that Perez would sit down with Mendes to talk about his contract but that too hasn't happened. The planned meeting between the two was cancelled until further notice due to an error with Perez's agenda, so says online outlet 'Soy Madridista'. Another reason for Cristiano to assume that Perez is doing this on purpose in order to force the Portuguese man out of the door at Real Madrid.

In Cristiano's mind, he also suspects that Perez wants to end the 'BBC' for good and look for a new attacking trio. Although surprisingly, Gareth Bale is the only one of the current squad that Perez would like to keep. Karim Benzema and Cristiano would be replaced by Robert Lewandowski and Neymar.
