Corriere: Inter Milan want to tie down Icardi to a new deal
After handing Spalletti an extension, Inter's next objective is having Icardi sign a new deal to keep Real Madrid at bay
After reaching an agreement for Luciano Spalletti to sign a new contract at the club, Inter Milan have made it a priority to renew Mauro Icardi's deal next. This is to ward off potential interest from Real Madrid according to 'Corriere dello Sport'.
Inter, who return to the Champions League this season, have improved their squad considerably. They were even trying to sign Luka Modric but the Croatian will in the end stay at Madrid. However, this has created a bad feeling amongst the two clubs.
The name on everyone's lips is Icardi. The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has left a gap for a new number nine to join Lopetegui's squad and the Argentine is on their list.
The reaction from Inter, according to the newspaper, has been quick. After reaching an agreement for their coach to extend his stay at the club, they are now keen to sign Icardi to fresh terms. The negotiations have begun immediately and both sides are optimistic of reaching a positive conclusion.
