The Villarreal midfielder went to the police, his club have explained

'Onda Cero' reported that Álex Baena has opted to denounce Fede Valverde for the punch he threw at his face after the Real Madrid - Villarreal match last Saturday night.

The Yellow Submarine already announced that they would support their player in whatever decision he decided to take, but that they would not take any action on their own. The violent clash, for the moment without images although the police might have some, has had several versions of events (very different between them) told about what happened.

Firstly, the Uruguayan player's entourage assured some media that Baena told Valverde "cry now, your son is not going to be born", something that the Villarreal player himself denied through his social networks. However, the Madrid player's partner, Mina Bonino, maintains that there was indeed provocation. Finally, Álex Baena has decided to report the incident.

Villarreal put out a statement.

"Alex Baena suffered an attack while he was going to the team bus after the game against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu," wrote Villarreal.

"Because of this situation, the player has decided to file the corresponding complaint against the aggressor to the national police.

"Once more, Villarreal shows its rejection of any act of violence and believes firmly in the player's version of events, and will support him through this process."
