Atletico, nine points behind with four games to play, could actually win Barcelona the title before that should they lose to Real Valladolid earlier on the day.
Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann struck for Atletico with Valencia replying thanks to goals from Kevin Gameiro and Dani Parejo, the latter a penalty.
However Correa’s 81st minute strike settled the game and, as Barcelona players were hoping, increases the chances of them winning the title on their own merit against Levante.
