Despite opposition to his plans from the RFEF and the AFE, Tebas remains convinced that Barça and Girona will play in Miami in January

LaLiga president Javier Tebas was interviewed by CNN on Friday and he once again insisted that the idea is for Girona and Barcelona to play in Miami on the 26th January. "I bet you $10,000 that the match will be played in the United States," is what Tebas told the interviewer.

Tebas' words are in stark contrast to the RFEF's stance as they aren't in favour of the match being played outside of Spain. The president of the AFE, David Aganzo, went even further by stating: "The footballers won't go the United States to play these games."

Tebas added: "I know Spain well and the world of sport. So I know it won't be easy and the situation needs to be resolved. For me, the players from both sides want to be involved in the match in the United States. It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't want to play an official LaLiga match in the United States."

"It's a very immobile sector. Other things we've done have taken time and effort to make them happen but we've done it. We're almost certainly going to play in Miami," confirmed Tebas. He knew that people were going to oppose his idea as well.

"We knew what was going to happen, this doesn't surprise me. It was part of our strategy. There's a plan and we're going to keep working on it. The objective is for us to be in Miami, at the Hard Rock Stadium, at 14:45 on the 26th January."
