The Liga chief is not happy with how much money the government rakes

La Liga president Javier Tebas said on Thursday that Spain is the country which treats their players the worst in the European Union.

According to Tebas, football in Spain brings 1 per cent of the GDP of Spain and that La Liga earns 1 billion euros on an international level through transmitions, which the state takes 450m of.

"The tax is much higher on players in Spain than in Italy, France, England or Germany," said Tebas. "That puts at risk this industry and above all our exports, ebcause on an international level we are competing with a lot of products, not just the Premier League or the Bundsliga, but many audiovisual areas."

Tebas referred to the Cristiano Ronaldo case, with the Real Madrid striker leaving for Juventus this summer, partly because he has better financial conditions there than in Spain.

"What would Cristiano Ronaldo do? In Spain if I am generating 100m and they take 50m, or in Italy, where of those 100 I would pay 20m, where would I go?" asked Tebas rhetorically.
