In declarations to 'World Soccer' on BeIN Sports France he indicated that his Real Madrid teammate, Marco Asensio, is destined to leave his mark on football and inherit the throne left by Lionel Messi and himself.

Cristiano Ronaldo, aside from mentioning Asensio, named a group of players who he believes could also be in the running for the title of best footballer in the world. That group is led by Neymar, although he mentions Kylian Mbappe, Eden Hazard, Marcus Rashford and Ousmane Dembele too.
