The former Barcelona midfielder has decided not to retire just yet

Yaya Toure had hung up his boots. Or it seemed that way. His agent announced that the player was retiring, but the midfielder denied that was the case and left the door open to a possible return to the game. Now, aged 36, he has signed for Qingdao Huanghai in the Chinese second division.

The former Ivory Coast midfielder has been without a club since he left Olympiacos in December. He will now sign for the Chinese side, though, after passing a trial period. And he will once again wear the Blaugrana colours, as he did during his time with Barcelona, where he won the treble in his final year with the club.

After that, Toure moved to England to play for Manchester City and quickly became a key player in the club's ambitious project, helping them become the best team in the Premier League. He won three league titles with the club, one FA Cup and three League Cups.

His role reduced under Pep Guardiola and in his final year with City, due to fitness issues and injuries, he hardly featured. He left in the summer of 2018 and joined Olympiacos, where he had previously played in 2006, but only lasted three months in Greece.

Now in China and in a modest division, Toure wants to show that he still has football left in his body.
