Laporte feels Deschamps doesn't give him France call for "personal reasons"
The Man City centre-back is yet to make his full international debut for Les Bleus
Aymeric Laporte believes the reason he is still to make his France debut is because Didier Deschamps has a problem with him.
Laporte, 24, was a regular at U21 level but has not yet made his senior bow, despite impressing at Manchester City since joining the Premier League champions from Athletic Club.
"That question only has one answer: there is a coach and he doesn't call me, so I need to wait, to keep working and that's it," he told Basque channel ETB when asked about his lack of international recognition.
“Of course I don't think it's because of a sporting issue, you'd have to ask [Deschamps] personally, I don't have anything personal against him, but if someone has a problem it's him and not me.
“I could be a world champion... but these are the decisions of the coach, who is not calling me for, I think, personal reasons, and I have to respect him.
“I'm not going to call him. Why? To slam him? No, obviously not. I'm still working in the club, playing at the highest level for this kind of thing [an international call-up]... the only person who can solve this is the coach,”
However, despite the problems with France, Laporte says playing for Spain is not in his plans: "I fight to play for France because I am French. I don't have double nationality and I'm not going to ask for it."
