FIFA president Sepp Blatter not involved in Wednesday's arrests

FIFA have said that Sepp Blatter is not caught up in the charges which saw several of the organisation's officials arrested on Wednesday morning.

Walter De Gregorio, FIFA's direcor of communications, assured reporters that president Blatter is not involved.

He also explained that the organisation's secretary general, Jerome Valcke, is also not part of the charges brought against FIFA officials.

"The president is not involved, so how can you say he has to step down? He was not involved," De Gregorio said at a press conference on Wednesday.

"First of all he is focussed on congress, let's just say the stress factor is a little higher today than yesterday.

"But he is quite relaxed, he knows and it has been confirmed today that he is not involved."
