The Man City man backed the Chelsea star's transfer

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne said on Friday that his Belgium teammate Eden Hazard deserves his move to Real Madrid.

Hazard is expected to complete his move from Chelsea to Madrid in the coming days after the two teams agreed on a fee for the forward, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in 12 months.

"If you do well and these teams come for you, you have earned the right to play there," De Bruyne said. "Otherwise these teams would not come after you, so in that respect, I think he has earned his transfer."

De Bruyne doesn't expect the transfer to distract Hazard from his international commitments in the coming days, with Belgium involved in European Championship qualifiers.

He added: "We are all professional here. Everyone has played with transfer problems. He is not the first and will not be the last. We are not busy with his transfer.

"He knows what to do. He has to work for a few more days and then he also has a vacation. Then he has enough time to arrange everything.

"If the transfer comes, it won't be in the next four or five days. Why would he do that? Why would he take that risk? Now everyone is watching him."
