Lucho is on the market after leaving Spain role following the 2022 World Cup

Luis Enrique is the bombshell that the Confederaçao Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) are preparing to revolutionise a depressed Brazil national team after the resounding failure at the World Cup in Qata.

Led by the now-departed Tite, they were knocked out in the quarterfinals. Former Barça coach Luis Enrique is today the outright favorite to take over at the start of 2023.

The president of the Confederaçao, Ednaldo Rodrigues, returns to work on Thursday after having enjoyed a few days off. Among the urgent issues to resolve is the name of the new coach.

Rodrigues, who has been in office since March of last year, wants to shake up Brazilian football and is ready break the rule of having a Brazilian national team coach -- he has already turned to the international market.

His first option has always been Pep Guardiola, but the Catalan coach is not about to leave Manchester City, not now that he has a superstar, Erling Haaland, with whom he hopes to finally win the Champions League.

From there, a second stage has opened in which there is Carlo Ancelotti (who will not leave Real Madrid until Florentino Pérez kicks him out), José Mourinho and Luis Enrique.

And of all of them, the former Spain coach is the one who has gained the most strength. In Brazil, Lucho is a respected name due to his career on the bench for La Roja and, previously, with Barça, where he won a Treble.

He is valued for his courage to use the youngsters -- which is a key element in the rejuvenation process because Brazil have an excellent U20 crop -- his non-negotiable commitment to attacking play and his leadership.

The heavyweights of the Seleçao have already been in charge of leaking that they would be in favor of having the current Fluminense coach, Fernando Diniz, whom throughout his career they have nicknamed the 'Brazilian Guardiola'.

In his favor, there is his positional game and the plasticity of his teams; against him, and this can weigh heavily, there is the fact of never having won a title.
