The Spanish midfielder will soon fly out to Qatar and join up with his new manager, Xavi Hernandez

Qatari side Al-Sadd have officially confirmed the signing of Santi Cazorla for next season. The Villarreal icon will join up with fellow Spaniard, Xavi Hernandez, in the Middle East. Xavi is, of course, the current manager of Al-Sadd.

In the official statement, the Qatari club said an agreement was made between all sides and that the player would soon be flying out to Doha in order to put pen-to-paper on his new contract.

Cazorla said goodbye to Villarreal - and LaLiga - on Sunday because he felt it would be difficult "to maintain this level for another year" after a successful campaign with the Yellow Submarines. He doesn't feel he's physically able to remain at the level required in LaLiga.

Xavi Hernandez was said to be key in getting the Spanish international to join Al-Sadd.
