If anyone had more reason than most to tune in to see Barça and Real Madrid clash in the Copa del Rey, it was Frenkie de Jong. His next club is FC Barcelona but Madrid are his current side, Ajax's, next opponents in the Champions League.
The midfielder was asked whether he focused more on his future club or his next team's next opponent: "I focused on the match. There was quality all across the pitch and I enjoyed it a lot."
De Jong is no doubt excited by the prospect of being involved in El Clasico next season when he pulls on the azulgrana shirt. Next Wednesday he'll come up against Real Madrid in the Champions League whilst representing Ajax.
