The No 21 is what he currently wears at Ajax and he'd like to keep it
Logically the shirt numbers for Barcelona players next season are not yet known, but of course players like Lionel Messi, Busquets and Pique, will keep theirs. There will be changes too.
One of the unknowns is which shirt Frenkie de Jong will have after he joins from Ajax. The midfielder told Het Kontakt that he would like to keep the same number that he wears at Ajax. “To play with the No 21 would be good because it’s my number really, but we still don’t know the shirt numbers for next season,” said De Jong.
It’s a decision which Nike will have something to do with too, the brand that dresses the footballer and also works with Barca.
“We will have to see, Nike prefer it too from the point of view of marketing, but it’s not sure yet,” added De Jong.
