The contract offer that Barcelona will present to Leo Messi

Barcelona need to get him registered with La Liga which is no easy task

FC Barcelona wants Leo Messi back and Leo Messi wants to wear the FC Barcelona shirt again. If the protagonists agree on the fundamentals, the agreement should be a reality, even if both parties have to make concessions to seal the deal.

The Azulgrana habe been working for some time on the return of the Argentine crack and, especially, studying in detail the options to be able to register him with La Liga. In this sense, Barça have already carried out the relevant consultations and are convinced that they will be able to make both their own and Messi's intentions a reality.

According to the consultations, Messi could be registered with a quarter of the last salary he received from FC Barcelona in the 2020-21 season, which amounted to around 100 million euros gross. In other words, he could be set up for the 2023-24 season with a contract worth 25 million euros.

Messi's net salary would be around 13 million euros, more or less the same amount that Poland's Robert Lewandowski is earning. However, with things as they are today, Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, assured on Wednesday, that the Argentine could not be registered.

FC Barcelona, in order to carry out this viability plan, will have to reduce the wage bill of the 2022-23 squad and improve its financial fair play with the sale of players or the reduction of current contracts.

The club, on the other hand, is offering Messi a two-year contract until June 2025. However, it is possible to talk about a "one plus one" deal given that in June 2024 the Argentine would have the option to terminate his contract.
