Barcelona have to improve their squad with players that can make the difference. That's the view from the dressing room in a season which has seen everyone work hard to recover the side's competitiveness and the essence of collective play.
The first half at Valencia showed Ernesto Valverde has things on track, but the second half showed the need for a Neymar or an Ousmane Dembele.
To this context, the players think that in January a new arrival is needed, someone who fits the club's style. And only one name has the backing of everyone: Philippe Coutinho.
There are two players particularly sold on the idea of signing the Liverpool playmaker: Luis Suarez and Paulinho. The Uruguayan played with him at Liverpool and the latter plays with him for Brazil.
Through these two, the rest of the Barça players have come to agreement that Coutinho should be the top target. The South American section, especially, know what he could bring. Mascherano and Messi, for example, suffered against him one year ago in a 3-0 loss at the Mineirao.
All the players know Coutinho is pushing to leave and hope the directors will sell him if Barça present a formal offer close to 150 million euros in January.
IMPROVE THE SQUAD
Coutinho would come to Camp Nou to take the next step in his career, in respect to his salary and his his ability. On the pitch, he would add to the left flank, helping Jordi Alba in the absence of Neymar.
Due to his versatility, he could play across the midfield and the attack, although it's in midfield where Jurgen Klopp's playing him recently, where he could eventually be the heir for Andres Iniesta.
