Revealed: Who the players blame for the crisis at Barça this season

The president doesn't blame Valverde and the dressing room believes Pep Segura is the person who needs to go this summer

The dressing room have singled out Pep Segura, Barça's sporting director, as the man to blame. The relationship between the players and Segura is so bad they barely even communicate with one another.

He's been accused of abandoning the academy, being in charge of making signings which aren't good enough for Barça, and signing others who don't fit the historic footballing style of the club.

This feeling is discontent isn't new and it's part fo the reason you rarely see him talking about current events. Not since he accused Pique of making an error which led to the opposition scoring. Now, with the club desperate for a fall guy, the players hope to pressure Bartomeu into sacking Segura.

THE SPORTING DIRECTOR

One person who doesn't want to see Segura leave is Bartomeu because it would signal the third sporting director to leave since 2015.. Andoni Zubizarreta, Robert Fernández and now Pep Segura might all feel like they've been thrown out as a sacrifice for the board to save face.

The lack of movement on certain signings, in particular the deal for Frenkie de Jong and now Matthijs de Ligt, has caused the president himself to get involved in order to wrap them up. He travelled to Holland himself to sign the midfielder and is very active in the pursuits of de Ligt and Griezmann.

With Valverde being backed by both the board and the players, the axe must fall elsewhere on what has been a season to forget. The first meeting took place yesterday evening but Bartomeu knows, more than anybody, that the atmosphere needs to more relaxed before serious decisions can be taken.

This week another meeting will take place to discuss the future and decide which players will come in and which will go. One thing everyone can agree on is it'll be a summer of many changes.
