The youngter, who has postponed a decision on his future until after the Nation's League, might not sign for Barça or Manchester United

The never-ending saga involving Matthijs de Ligt shows no signs of slowing down yet. It appeared he was set for Barça and then something changed and he was expected to join Manchester United. The Premier League side are able to offer much higher wages but, according to Sky Sports News, United have since been ruled out of the running for the young defender. Now it appears he could do a complete u-turn and remain at Ajax.

"It's true that there are various teams interested in me, but there isn't any club which I dream about playing for more than Ajax. It was only my dream to play for this team and that became a reality. And because I've got a contract here, there's a chance I might stay," De Ligt said.

A few months ago Marc Overmars, Ajax's director of football, said that they would sell their captain this summer. It's believed all the relevent parties know what de Ligt's decision will be.

That decision should become public following the conclusion of UEFA's Nations League 'Final Four' tournament at the beginning of June.
