Neto: "I feel a great sense of pride for having this opportunity"

One of FC Barcelona's latest signings, Norberto 'Neto' Murara, has given an interview to the club's official media channels where he spoke about his career up until now and what he feels after joining Barça.

Here are the main parts from that interview:

The reason he became a goalkeeper

"Since a very young age, I knew I wanted to be a footballer - but specifically a goalkeeper. I didn't want to run from one end of the pitch to the other I wanted to help my team by making saves. My father was a goalkeeper he's my main inspiration."

The move to Europe

"It was a dream of mine to play in Europe. I was 20 years old and I'd already started to get called up by Brazil. I couldn't let the first opportunity to go pass me by because I didn't know if there would be another one."

Winning a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games

"Very few players have had the privilege to be involved and even less have won an Olympic medal. It was a shame we didn't win in the final but it'll be something I can proudly explain to my daughter."

Signing for Juventus

"I was 25 and had finished my third season with Fiorentina. I felt like I needed a change. I spent two intense years there where I learnt a lot from Gianluigi Buffon. He brings a sense of security, calmness and incredible leadership skills."

Moving onto LaLiga

"I'd always been interested in playing in LaLiga. I worked so hard in those years and we managed to secure a move to Valencia and help them get back into the Champions League."

Pulling on the Barcelona shirt

"I feel a great sense of pride to have this opportunity. I believe I'm here in my best moment, on a personal and professional level. I've always dreamed of playing at a club like Barça. Opportunities come when we least expect them, but when we're the most prepared for them."

First memories of Barcelona

"I began following Barça in the Ronaldo and Rivaldo era. I still remember, as if it was yesterday, watching that famous Ronaldo goal (against Compostela) in my grandmother's house."

The goalkeeping situation at Barça

"It's a style of play where you need to be involved a lot more. Keepers are always under the magnifying glass but I'm prepared. Training alongside Ter Stegen will help me improve a lot. Playing against Barça was always tough but to do that alongside Leo Messi is a lot better."

This season's objectives

"I always like to return home each day and feel like I've taken a step forward. As a team, I want us to compete at the maximum level for every trophy available. I consider myself a winner and I hate losing."
