Barça's vice president didn't give any clues about the club's move for the Dutchman
While Barcelona are looking to take a step forward in their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt, the Ajax defender wanted by Europe's top clubs, the Catalan club's vice president has given nothing away in an interview with Sky Sport.
Mestre pointed out that Barça already have good centre-backs at the club and that other people will have the final word on the club's transfer business.
"I don't know why they say he's signed," Mestre said. "If Pique's not the best centre-back in the world, he is one of them. Then we have made some big signings, Lenglet and Umtiti and now we've signed a young player in Todibo.¿
When asked if De Ligt is already signed, he added: "The [centre-backs] we have are at a really high level. As for De Ligt, when the season ends, we will talk about next season. Not just De Ligt, but all [possible signings]."
