"I hope it doesn't happen of course," Robertson said when asked about Leo's potential move to Manchester City

Lionel Messi's future at FC Barcelona, alongside potential destinations should he leave, is causing issues in England as well.

Andrew Robertson, who won the Premier League last season with Liverpool and helped his side beat Barça on the way to claiming the Champions League the year before, has given his thoughts on Leo's potential move to England.

"I think Liverpool have ruled out that we could sign him so I don't want him anywhere near the Premier League and hopefully it stays that way. I've played against him twice and it's the hardest games I've ever played," confessed Robertson.

If Messi were to try his hand in English football it would almost certainly be with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City which isn't something the defender wants to think about.

"He's one of, if not the best player to ever play the game so for him to go to one of your nearest rivals is probably never a good sign. He's a fantastic player, I've no doubt if he came to the Premier League he'd bring the exact same quality, the same passion and everything he brings at Barca."

There's still no indication of where Messi's future lies. Another meeting is expected to take place between Jorge Messi and Josep Maria Bartomeu soon. This was after the first meeting saw neither side back down from their respective positions.
