The central defender didn't want to talk about a potential move back to Barça this summer

Manchester City centre back Eric Garcia spoke to the media ahead of Spain's UEFA Nations League matches against Germany and Ukraine. Garcia was asked about his future, his potential return to Barça and what's next for Lionel Messi.

"I'm here thanks to Manchester City and the trust they've placed in me," confessed Eric. "It's been a very good year although it didn't end with us winning the Champions League as we had hoped."

On Messi's future and a possible move to City, Garcia said: "As for Messi, there's something between the clubs and I can't get involved." When pressed if Leo would be a good addition to City's squad, the defender once again responded respectively. "I can only say what the whole world already knows and that's what a good player Messi is. I'm sure many clubs would like to have him as part of their squad but I'm going to avoid the question about whether he'd be a good signing for City because he's a Barça player."

Speaking of Barça, Eric has been linked with a return to the Camp Nou this summer after informing City he wouldn't sign a new contract there. "It's true that I told the club I wouldn't renew my contract beyond next year but I do have that year on my deal. So, for now, I'm focused on next season when I return from the international break."

Garcia, despite only being 19, is confident in front of the cameras and press. "My objective is to train, play and show that the coach can confide in me in Manchester and for Spain. Things away from the pitch I can't control and that's why I don't worry about it."
