He does not agree with those who have criticised the Portuguese

The director of institutional relations and sport with Barca, Guillermo Amor, spoke with Movistar after the 2-0 win at Malaga and defended Andre Gomes.

Asked about the Portuguese coming on as the first substitute by journalist Monica Marchante, with emphasis on the suprrise that Gomes keeps coming on first, Amor replied sarcastically: "Why? Valverde has confidence in him. He's started a lot of games. Today he had to play right-back and he did it. He's a very accomplished and hard-working player. He could be very important for us in the games ahead."

He also hailed Ousmane Dembele. "He had a very good game and that should be recognised. What has happened is that we analyse any details a lot. He's a player who had problems and it's better to forget them. He's getting into the group dynamic, he's young, daring, in football today that's the hardest thing."
