Sergi Roberto was taken off in the 74th minute of Barcelona's 2-0 win against Malaga with a muscle pain in his right leg, news which could affect Ernesto Valverde's plans for the game against Chelsea on Wednesday in the Champions League.
In his place, he brought on Andre Gomes, who played as an improvised right-back despite the fact Aleix Vidal was also on the bench. It's not the first time the Portgual international has played in said position, though.
In the final of the Copa del Rey, with Vidal and Sergi Roberto both absent (the former returned from a long injury to be on the bench; the latter was suspended), Luis Enrique chose Gomes against Alaves. Barça went on to win the trophy and he played well.
We will have to see what happens with Sergi Roberto with regards to the Chelsea game, with Nelson Semedo also out injured. Vidal would presumably be the third choice, but Valverde's sent a message by bringing Gomes on in the position on Saturday.
