After the two clubs agreed a fee, the player is expected in Barcelona this week

FC Barcelona and Sergiño Dest are finalising the details of his transfer to the club on Monday morning with the aim of the Ajax right-back travelling to Catalonia on Monday to sign for the club officially.

With the agreement closed between the clubs, all that's left is for Barça to cross the t's and dot the i's on a five-year deal with the United States international.

Ajax's willingness to negotiate has facilitated Dest's move to Barça. The Dutch club accepted the payment in a number of installments to help ease the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the Blaugrana's finances.

According to Catalunya Radio and confirmed by SPORT, Barça were able to beat Bayern Munich to the signing of Dest due to the player's desire to move to Camp Nou.

But also because Ajax's sporting director, Marc Overmars, accepted the flexible payments that Barça requested when it came to paying.

Ajax wanted 20 million euros and five million in add ons. But they accepted the payment in three installments, the first of which will be inferior to the second two as Barça adjust their accounts.

Dest is expected in Barcelona on Monday for a medical and to sign his deal before getting to work under new coach Ronald Koeman.

The USMNT defender played his final minutes for Ajax on Saturday against Vitesse, coming on as a substitute on a night that had the air of a farewell.

SIGNINGS PENDING

Dest will be the fourth new arrival this summer after Pjanic, Trincao and Pedri but the first under Koeman.

The Catalan club are working on closing various other deals before the transfer window closes next week. Manchester City defender Eric Garcia is still a target, while Koeman would like another attacker. Lyon's Memphis Depay is the most likely option, ahead of Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez.
