FIFA are changing the format of the tournament to include sides who didn't win the Champions League

The FIFA Executive Committee has agreed to change the format of the Club World Cup and will now decide how the other places in the competition will be handed out.

FIFA's revamped tournament will now include 24 teams and begin in 2021. A decision on which teams are to be invited will take place next March.

Although, according to SPORT's sources, it's extremely unlikely that Barcelona will be handed a place in the competition. The team hasn't won the Champions League or Europa League in the last two seasons. It is likely to hand more places to Oceania and, at the moment, UEFA are opposing any changes to the tournament structure.

The only way that Barça can guarantee an invite is if they win this season's Champions League or Europa League.
