The club have not revealed how long the left-back will be out of action for

Barcelona have confirmed that Jordi Alba suffered a hamstring injury against Sevilla and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Alba was forced off in the second half of Sunday's 1-1 draw, replaced by Sergiño Dest, and underwent tests at the club's training ground on Monday.

"The tests carried out this morning have confirmed that Jordi Alba has a muscle injury in the hamstrings of his right leg," Barça said in a statement.

"He is unavailable for selection until otherwise noted and the evolution of the injury will condition the player's availability."

Barca have two weeks off now due to the international break, with Alba not called up by Luis Enrique for the Spain squad. He will therefore have time to recover before the next game.

Ronald Koeman's side return to action later in October with a trip to Getafe (Oct. 17/18) before they host Real Madrid at Camp Nou in the first Clasico of the season.

Alba's injury could see Dest come into the side at left-back. The new signing replaced him on Sunday and can play on the right or left, even though he joined as a right-back.

Junior Firpo could be another option but the ex-Real Betis left-back is currently sidelined with his own injury problems.
