Amor's indiscretion could prove expensive for Barcelona

Chelsea, Roma and Nantes have been charged previously

The indiscretion of Guillermo Amor could prove costly for Barcelona. Atletico Madrid, after the director of institutional relations' comments about a move for Antoine Griezmann, have decided to report the Catalan club to FIFA

Atletico, after assessing the matter, have decided to present a formal complaint to FIFA. Not even the good relationship between the two clubs prevented them taking such action, hurt by the supposed contact between Barça and the player. FIFA must now study the case and take a decision in respect to the matter. If found guilty, Barça could be seriously damaged in terms of future planning.

That's because the precedents are not promising. Clubs like Chelsea, Nantes and Roma were all punished in the past with transfer bans after they contacted players who had contracts with other clubs.

Chelsea signed Gael Kakuta in 2009 from Lens when he was just 17 and had to pay a fine of 780,000 euros, as well as being banned from signing players for two transfer windoes. However, after an appeal, FIFA reduced the punishment because Kakuta, Lens and Chelsea all agreed that the players' contract with the French club was not valid

Roma did not have as much luck in 2005 when the signed Mexes from Auxerre. The French club reported the Italians to FIFA. And Roma were banned from signing players for two windows, the same punishment dished out to Nantes in 2014 when they signed Ismael Bangoura from UAE side Al Nasr.

According to Catalunya Radio on Tuesday, FIFA have already received the complaint from Atletico.
