The right-back hopes to return two months early and play against Alaves

Barcelona are urging caution, but Vidal is optimistic about his chances

Aleix Vidal was initially ruled out for five months in Februray after suffering a serious ankle injury at Mendizorroza, but he could return two months early. His recovery is going well and the player is optimistic.

Vidal has marked his own Mission Impossible: to make the squad for the Copa del Rey final against Alaves on May 27. The former Sevilla man is set on travelling to Madrid for that game -- against the side he was injured against -- and helping his team-mates, if Luis Enrique feels he's ready.

However, it's one thing what Vidal wants, spurred on by the people close to him, and the reality, which is often cruel.

CAUTION

The club recognise that the player's recovery from the injury has been hugely positive, but they're also aware of the severity of the injury, so there's caution in every sense.

Vidal disclocated his ankle on Feb. 11 in Vitoria in a league game against Alaves and the five month estimation of his time out of action meant he said goodbye to the season.

But his excellent attitude and optimism have meant things have gone faster than expected. The possibility of featuring in the cup final, though, and recovering two months early is not a decision which the club will rush into making.
