The Barça coach, on a visit to Doha, analyses the start of the tournament for SPORT and believes Spain v Germany "will be a war"

Xavi Hernández is presently in Qatar, where he will be watching several World Cup matches live.

The Barça coach took part this Saturday in an event organised by Adidas and spoke exclusively to SPORT.

Xavi applauded the performance of the Spanish national team at the start of the tournament.

"Spain is the team that has played the best, perhaps along with England in the first game, although England then only managed a draw against the United States.

"Spain are at the highest level right now. I also liked Brazil and France, but Spain showed a superiority that has not yet been seen in any other team," added the Barça coach in Doha.

ERIC AND ANSU WILL PLAY

Xavi also assessed the specific performance of some of his team's players and was convinced that both Eric and Ansu, who did not feature against Costa Rica, will play a leading role.

"Luis Enrique already said in the press conference that there would be changes. I'm sure there will be minutes for everyone and that they will come in. Eric and Ansu are going to be important, Luis has a lot of confidence in them and the rest of the Barça players have already shown their level in the first game".

"Spain have players of a very high calibre. Young and very well prepared", Xavi added.

GERMANY - SPAIN, A WAR

Looking ahead to the Spain - Germany game, which will be decisive for the group, the Barça coach predicted a "difficult match, but Germany have a lot more pressure than Spain".

"Spain have to show the personality they had on the first day. It will be an even game, both will want the ball. It will be an important battle, but Germany start with much more pressure than Spain".
