The Real Madrid midfielder is not ready to walk away from international football

Croatia midfielder Luka Modric says Qatar 2022 "could be" his last World Cup, although he did not confirm that would the case, and expressed his desire to "continue" with the national team "at least until the Nations League."

"We'll see what happens in the future," Modric told reporters after helping Croatia beat Morocco 2-1 in the third-place playoff at the Qatar World Cup.

"It could be my last World Cup, but I can't say anything. I need to go step by step, I am enjoying the national team. I still feel I can perform at a high level.

"I am really happy with my Croatia career. Having won two medals (silver in 2018, bronze this year) is massive, but I wanted to win this cup. It wasn't to be, but I am happy with two medals.

"I want to continue at least until [the] Nations League. That will give me time to think about Euro 2024."
