Luis Enrique: If Spain don't win World Cup, I would like Argentine to do it
The former Barcelona coach says Lionel Messi deserves football's biggest prize
Luis Enrique is clear that the objective of the Spanish national team is to win the World Cup. However, he acknowledged on his first day as a 'streamer' that "if we don't win, I would like Argentina to."
The reason? Lionel Messi.
He said: "A player of his stature deserves to win a World Cup. It would be very unfair for him to retire without doing so.
The Spain coach also revealed that Spain and Argentina are sharing a venue in Qatar: "We are neighbours, although we are separated by some fences."
Luis Enrique, who coached Messi at Barcelona, also remembered another of his former alumni at Camp Nou, Luis Suárez.
"And if it's not us or Argentina, then let Uruguay win it," he added on his first Twitch stream of the tournament.
